Blumensaat line corresponds to the roof of intercondylar notch of the femur as seen on lateral radiograph of knee joint. It has been used for:
- indicating relative position of patella (normally this line intersects the lower pole of patella)
- suggesting ACL injury (normal ACL Blumensaat angle is less than or equal to 15o)
It may not always be straight and three types have been described 3
