Cervical disc replacement

Last revised by Craig Hacking on 11 Jan 2019

A cervical disc replacement (also known as a spacer) is a prosthesis surgically inserted in the native disc space.  It is invariably inserted for symptomatic cervical spondylosis.

Disc replacements can be placed either in isolation or along with anterior fixation.

The appearances are varied with the spacer occupying the site of the native cervical disc.
