Coronary artery calcification is a common incidental finding in asymptomatic patients having CT of the thorax for non-cardiac indications as well as being a significant finding on cardiac CT. Coronary artery calcification is a marker of atherosclerotic plaque and thus coronary artery disease. There are a number of scoring systems including ^1,2:

Agatston scoring
segmented vessel-specific scoring
overall visual assessment
