Dendriform pulmonary ossification

Dendriform (or dendritic) pulmonary ossification is a rare morphological subtype of pulmonary ossification whereby the thin branching calcified lines on CT resemble a dendrite (however a dendritic pattern may not always be present on CT).

Pathology

They are thought to be metaplastic in etiology.

They may also be seen as small nodules in the peripheral interstitium (interlobular septa and subpleural and perifissural spaces) associated with interstitial lines. They principally have a peripheral and basal distribution.
