Fetal chylothorax

Fetal chylothorax is defined as the presence of lymphatic fluid within the pleural cavity of the fetus.

Antenatal ultrasound
  • may show echogenic fluid in the pleural cavities

Treatment

Some of the describe management options include:

  • in-utero pleuro amniotic shunt
  • pleurocentesis
  • pleural drainage after birth
  • pleurodesis
  • intrapleural injection of OK-432
