Iodinated oil pulmonary embolism

Iodinated oil pulmonary embolism is a form of particulate material pulmonary embolism which in turn falls under non-thrombolic pulmonary emboli. Iodinated oil pulmonary embolism occurs in the setting of:

Radiographic features

CT

Can be variable and include 5

  • extensive dense opacities
  • reticulonodular interstitial pattern: can persist for several weeks
  • multifocal patchy areas of ground-glass attenuation and high-attenuation areas of consolidation and collapse
