Madelung dyschondrosteosis refers to a dysplasia associated with a Madelung deformity 1,2

Pathology

It is a form of mesomelic dwarfism, especially if the condition is bilateral or there is a family history of short stature.

Has radiographic features of a Madelung deformity as well as:

  • dysplastic proximal radius
  • short forearms
  • short tibia/fibula

History and etymology

It is named after Otto Wilhelm Madelung (1846-1926), a German surgeon.
