Body was changed:

The mandibular foramen or inferior alveolar foramen is located on medial surface of ramus of the mandible and is the entrance to the mandibular canal. It transmits inferior alveolar nerve, a branch of the posterior division of the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve that supplies all the ipsilateral teeth up to the midline.

Superiorly it has a small tubercle or ridge, the lingula, where the sphenomandibular ligament attaches.
