Maxwell (CGS unit)

The maxwell (symbol: Mx) is the CGS unit of magnetic flux and was superseded by the weber, the unit in the SI system

Terminology

As per all other eponymous measurement units when the unit is written out in full it is not capitalized, but when shortened to its symbol it is capitalized.

History and etymology

It is named after the mathematical physicist, James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879) 1.
