Odontogenic sinusitis

A term is used to describe inflammation of the paranasal sinuses secondary to tooth problems e.g. tooth cares and periapical abscess or secondary to dental procedures e.g. extraction and implants.

It accounts for 10% of causes of chronic sinusitis and almost exclusively involving the maxillary sinus. Isolated maxillary sinusitis should raise the thinking of associated odontogenic cause.
