Procerus muscle

Procerus muscle (also known as pyramidalis nasi muscle) is one of the muscles of the nose and hence a facial muscle.

Muscles of the nose vary in size between individuals and may be entirely absent 1.

Procerus is the Latin word meaning 'slender' 4.

  • patients with progressive supranuclear palsy may have the 'procerus sign', describing vertical wrinkling of the forehead, which is thought to be due to a focal dystonia of the procerus muscle 5,6
