Right ventricular outflow tract view (fetal echocardiogram)
The right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) view (or three vessel view/3VV) is one of the standard views in a fetal echocardiogram.
In this view, the right ventricle and pulmonary trunk should be in continuity and the aorta posterior to the right ventricle.
This view can be achieved by adjusting the transducer beam while a good 4 chamber view is obtained, towards the right shoulder of the fetus.
In this view, the following observations can be made:
- the aorta and pulmonary trunk should be approximately the same size
- the pulmonary trunk should be anterior and to the left of the aorta
