T1 values (1.5 T)

Last revised by Ammar Haouimi on 14 May 2021

T1 values are a few hundred milliseconds (ms) for most tissues examined.

The following are approximate T1 values (ms) of several tissues for B0 = 1.5 T

Tissues that will have high signal on T1-weighted images include: fat, hemangioma, intraosseous lipoma, radiation change, degeneration fatty deposition, methemoglobin, cysts with proteinaceous fluid, paramagnetic contrast agents and slow-flowing blood.

Tissues with typically low signal include: cortical bone, avascular necrosis, infarction, infection, tumors, sclerosis, cysts and calcification.

Tissues with signal void include: air/gas, fast-flowing blood, tendons, cortical bone, scar tissue and calcification.
