Tibia vara

Last revised by Yuranga Weerakkody on 21 Nov 2021

Tibia vara (also known as genu varus and bow-leggedness) is a varus deformity with outward bowing at the knee and medial angulation (inward) of the lower leg in relation to the thigh's coronal axis.

The differential of bow-legging in children is long, with common causes including Blount disease and rickets. Somewhat confusingly tibia vara is also used as a synonym for Blount disease itself.
