Tram-track sign (knee)

Last revised by Rohit Sharma on 17 Jan 2022

The tram-track sign refers to the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) appearance when it has a diffuse or partial thickening of the anteroposterior diameter greater than 7 mm. It is associated with longitudinal intraligamentous signal abnormalities showing fluid signal characteristics (hyperintensity in T2 weighted sequences) surrounded by hypointense fibers.
