Incidental finding on portable CXR

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Female

Portable CXR reveals the left subclavian central venous access in an anomalous location, at left internal mammary vein.

Case Discussion

Portable CXR was done for evaluation, revealed:

  1. right bronchial intubation with complete opacification of the left lung
  2. an unusual course of the left subclavian central venous access

After repositioning of the ETT and chest drainage tube placement the subclavian catheter is confirmed to be malpositioned in the left internal mammary vein.
