MRI demonstrates a small region of intrinsic T1 hyperintensity which fail to attenuate on fat saturation. No normal posterior pituitary bright spot can be identified.
Case Discussion
This case presumably represent an incidental ectopic posterior pituitary, although the presence of visual changes should be further assessed with visual field and neurological assessment to ensure that it does not localize to the chiasm. If it did, it would make one suspect that this lesion is not congenital but rather growing and symptomatic.
