Extensive degenerative changes, chondrocalcinosis in both menisci, predominant patellofemoral joint osteoarthritis, and calcification of the gastrocnemius tendon origin.
Case Discussion
Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease (CPPD) in the knee.
The knee is the joint most commonly affected by CPPD. Typical findings are:
- chondrocalcinosis involving both menisci and hyaline cartilage
- predominant patellofemoral joint osteoarthritis
- calcifications of the gastrocnemius tendon
