Left sided facial painful swelling and tenderness.

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male

CT of the neck/soft tissues demonstrates an enhancing, enlarged left parotid gland with inflammatory changes of the subcutaneous soft tissues consistent with acute parotid sialadenitis (parotitis).

Case Discussion

This case shows CT morphology in sialedenitis.

In this age group, viral etiology like Mumps may be considered as possible etiology.
