Rib enchondroma

Presentation

Increasing shortness of breath and previous asbestos exposure.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Right-sided rib or pleural based mass around the lateral margin of the 6th rib. Lungs are clear. No effusion. Normal cardiac size and mediastinal contours. Normal bones.

CT confirms that the lesion is an expansile lucent bone lesion arising from the internal surface of the right 6th rib. Appearances of a benign bony lesion with enchondroma being the top differential.
