Esophageal atresia

Presentation

A primiparous who was scanned at 28 weeks and rescanned at 32 weeks

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Scanned at 28 weeks of gestation and 32 weeks of gestation.

Increasing polyhydramnios noted.

Single umbilical artery.

Stomach fluid was always absent.

Fetal neck showed fluid filled pouch posterior to trachea. This pouch filled up and emptied during scan. 3 times during 45 minute scan time at 28 weeks and 2 times during a 30 minute scan time at 32 weeks.

Case Discussion

This case clearly depicts the spectrum of antenatal findings of esophageal atresia.

Fetus was delivered later. Referred to pediatric surgeon. Findings of esophageal atresia was confirmed.
