Gut is herniating through umbilicus. What should be this condition called?
At this gestation age, it is normal physiological gut herniation, and should not be labelled as omphalocele.
Ultrasound of a normal 9 week 5 day old fetus demonstrates the presence of physiological gut herniation.
Also note the normal position of the yolk sac at this stage of gestation, as it is pushed aside by the expanding amniotic sac.
