Neurofibromatosis type 1 with optic nerve glioma

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral optic nerve enlargement with significant enhancement in keeping with optic nerve glioma.

Abnormal high signal intensity at the basal ganglia as well as both cerebellar hemisphere and white matter of occipital lobes. 

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates  a patient with a known diagnosis of NF1 showing focal areas of signal intensity abnormalities characterized by high T2/FLAIR signal in the basal ganglia, and nerve optic enlargement in keeping with glioma

These findings are strongly supported by the clinical diagnosis of NF1.
