What are the two histological types of craniopharyngioma recognised (now distinct diagnoses)?
Adamantinomatous and papillary.
Which would this most likely be? Why?
Papillary is most likely given the relatively small cystic component. Adult age also somewhat supports this although adamantinomatous is most common in all age groups.
MRI of the brain demonstrates a mass in the suprasellar region which is variegated in both T1 and T2 signal, with regions of intrinsic high T1 signal, cystic areas and solid enhancing areas.
