Presentation

Persistent back pain after a coughing fit.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Endplate osteoporotic compression fractures of Th12 and L1.

Bone SPECT: L1 but not Th12 shows increased radiotracer uptake, indicating that only the former is a recent compression fracture.
