Diffuse synovial thickening noted involving the knee joint. Thickened synovium is hypointense on T2 and shows multiple irregular low T2 foci. Multiple T2 hypointense signal loose bodies also noted in suprapatellar bursa.
Both medial and lateral tibial and femoral condyles show large cysts with heterogeneous signals and low T2 signal intensity rim. The hypointense T2 signal foci described are possibly due to hemosiderin contents.
Case Discussion
This case illustrates the typical appearances of pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) of the knee.
