Given the lesion size and palpability, it was a straightforward biopsy. The technique used in our service is summarised as: skin antisepsis, local block with 5-10 mL of 1% lidocaine, a small incision with a scalpel 11 (enough to overcome resistance and allow the entry of the needle-core biopsy), guided introduction of the needle core biopsy with the removal of three or four fragments. The needles commonly employed are of 14 gauge.
