Histology
MICROSCOPIC FEATURES: The tumour has a predominantly papillary architecture with cuboidal or columnar cells arranged around cores of basophilic myxoid material. In more cellular areas the ependymal cells form perivascular pseudorosettes. Areas of haemorrhage and organising haematoma are present. There are also areas of degeneration and necrosis, without cellular palisading. Features of anaplasia, including hypercellularity, microvascular proliferation and mitotic activity, are not identified.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS: Myxopapillary ependymoma
