Hyperextension injury on a motorbike

Patient Data

Age: 18 years
Gender: Male

Signs of a marked hyperextension injury with impaction of the tibial plateau anteriorly against the medial femoral condyle anteriorly producing depression of the articular surface. Partial disruption of the posterior cruciate ligament, together with disruption to the lateral collateral ligament, biceps insertion onto the fibular head and popliteus tendon. Iliotibial band remains attached.
