This graphic photo elegantly demonstrates the relationship of the haematoma to the dura, with a characteristic lentiform shape.
The skull has been opened circumferentially and the top of the brain sliced off and removed (B). A large right temporal epidural hematoma (yellow dotted line in second image) is associated with right temporal bone fracture (not visible) and mild midline shift( sub falcial herniation). Lateral ventricles are also compressed. The cause of death was uncal herniation (also not visible).
