Cystic lymphangioma

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

This patient presented with recurrent abdominal pain. On examination, there was tenderness and guarding. Bowel sounds were normal. No pyrexia. WCC and CRP were normal.

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

CT abdomen and pelvis

CT abdomen with oral and intravenous contrast shows a left lower quadrant cystic mass with rim enhancement and fluid-fluid layering. The mass is apparently separate from solid organs, located in the mesentery. There is no bowel obstruction.

x-ray

This patient had the following prior procedures:

Frontal chest radiograph shows minor vertebral anomalies in the upper dorsal spine, but it otherwise normal.

Orthopantomogram shows a solitary radiolucent lesion in the left maxilla. It has a thin sclerotic margin and there is mild impaction of the left upper molar teeth.

Lymphangiomas are regarded as a congenital malformation of lymphatic vessels and lymphatic tissue.
