Early pregnancy (CT)

Discussion:

This case shows a rare unintentional CT scan in a pregnant patient, features of which should be known to a radiologist.

CT for investigation of abdominal pain - patient not known to be pregnant. Subsequently positive beta hCG was documented. Patient was counseled on the radiation dose received by the fetus based on analysis by a medical physicist. Symptoms that caused presentation were likely to have been a manifestation of the pregnancy!
