Presentation
Left thigh and knee pain for the last 6 months. Pain increases with walking and activity.
Patient Data
Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.
A well defined lytic, eccentric medullary epimetaphyseal lesion with diaphyseal extension is seen along the lateral aspect of proximal tibia with cortical thinning and breach. Fairly narrow zone of transition in a mature skeleton.
CT demonstrates the cortical breach and associated soft tissue component.
Bone scan identifies increased uptake in the lesion.
Case Discussion
This patient underwent surgery with open excisional biopsy and her pathology was GCT (Giant cell tumor). Second surgery the whole tumor was removed and tumor bed was filled with cement and proximal tibia fixed with plate.
