What is the usual presenting complaint?
The patient typically presents with a palpable abdominal mass, but it otherwise asymptomatic.
What is the classic demographic characteristics of patients with this tumour?
It is virtually exclusive to females, usually in adolescence or early adulthood and appears to spare the Caucasian population.
What is the expected prognosis?
The prognosis is excellent. More than 85% are benign and of those which are malignant, post operative outcome is excellent, with a low rate or metastasis and recurrence.
Large mass in the tail of pancreas, with both solid and cystic components. No internal calcification. Enhancing rim/capsule. No pancreatic duct dilatation.
Mass effect on the splenic vein with resultant large varices anterior to the mass.
No lymphadenopathy.
