What is required prior to CT guided lung biopsy being performed?
1. Diagnostic imaging requires review. 2. Patient's informed written consent. 3. Ideally pulmonary function testing. 4. Full blood count, coagulation screen. 5. On-site facilities for urgent chest drain insertion - in case of a procedural pneumothorax.
What is the significant of the lesion-pleural distance?
The incidence of pneumothorax is greater with a greater pleural-lesion distance. i.e. the more lung traversed, the higher the chance of pneumothorax.
