There is a cavitating lesion with irregular thick walls and an air-fluid level in the left upper lobe.
Pulmonary consolidation is remarkable adjacent to the cavitary lesion.
Hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes are seen with a maximum short axis diameter of 8mm.
Two incidental small foci of punctate calcification in the liver parenchyma that represent granulomas.
Case Discussion
Differential considerations in thick-walled irregular pulmonary cavities include pulmonary abscess, necrotic malignancy, cavitating pneumonia, Wegener's granulomatosis and infected cysts.
