How do you differentiate between this fracture and an un-united secondary ossification center?
Clay-shoveler's fractures typically demonstrate inferior displacement of the fracture fragment, secondary ossification centers do not. Also, fracture lines are not corticated, unless old.
CT confirms an oblique fracture of the C6 vertebra with slight displacement. There is no extension to the lamina or facet joint on axial CT.
