How are Morel-Lavallée lesions treated?
If acute and non-encapsulated (usually type 1), they can be treated conservatively with compression. All other types typically require surgical management due to encapsulation of the lesion.
The images above depict the underlying pathologic abnormalities expected with each of the Morel-Lavallée types, as described in the classification of Morel-Lavallée lesions.
