Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

A well demarcated lesion measuring 21 x18 mm in maximal axial dimensions is seen centered within the right cerebellum. The lesion demonstrates a hyperdense rim and a hypodense core.

The hypodense region surrounding this lesion is in keeping with vasogenic edema. The lesion and secondary edema cause moderate surrounding mass effect and partial effacement of the fourth ventricle. No hydrocephalus.

Within the limitations of a non-contrast study, no further lesions are identified.

Case Discussion

This patient has known metastatic lung carcinoma and this is a fairly typical cerebellar metastasis requiring a surgery to decompress the posterior fossa.
