Serous cystadenoma of pancreas

Discussion:

Besides the location on body and tail, this lesion has typical characteristics for serous cystoadenoma of pancreas. This case = is a presumptive diagnosis.

A serous cystadenoma of the pancreas is an uncommon type of benign cystic pancreatic neoplasm. It`s typically demonstrates as a multicystic, lobulated mass in the pancreatic head region. A characteristic enhancing central scar may be present which can show associated stellate calcification (present in ~ 20 % of cases).

It is important to know the mainly differentials diagnosis, such as mucinous cystic neoplasm(s) of pancreas.

There are multiple cystic pancreatic lesions, some of which are pathognomonic, although diagnosis can be challenging even with multi-modality imaging and its relative inaccessibility to biopsy.
