Myositis ossificans

Presentation

Left thigh pain.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is laminated ossification on the anterolateral surface of the mid-femur. The adjacent cortex appears normal and there is no focal bony lucency.

ct

The CT confirms the plain film findings with laminated ossification but a normal underlying bone.

mri

The previously benign process on XR and CT starts to look very aggressive on MRI. But, this is the problem with myositis ossificans!
