What are the types of occipital vertebrae presentation?
Four major types of occipital vertebrae are noted. These are almost always associated with basilar invagination and a hypoplastic clivus. 1. Condylus tertius 2. Basilar process 3. Paracondylar process 4. Prebasioccipital arch
Noncontrast high-resolution CT reveals hypoplasia of basiocciput with prebasioccipital arch, basilar invagination, and the possibility of neural dysgenesis (Chiari malformation).
