Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Patient presenting with visual disturbance.

Patient Data

Age: Adult

Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.

MRI pituitary

mri

MRI demonstrating a large pituitary macroadenoma not only extending superiorly out of the enlarged fossa and compressing the optic chiasm, but also extending anteriorly into the sphenoid sinus.

Case Discussion

This patient went on to have a transphenoidal resection which confirmed the presence of a pituitary adenoma. This case illustrates the somewhat 'ground glass' like enhancement of pituitary tissue, compared to the brighter enhancement seen with metastases, lymphoma or meningioma.
