Presentation

Huge swelling in the lower lumbar and pelvic regions.

Patient Data

Age: 4 weeks
Gender: Female

Large soft tissue swelling seen in the pelvic region

Large soft tissue mass is seen. It is appearance is cystic. No apparent anomalus vertebrae.

A catheter is seen within the rectum for preoperative planning.

The large mass appears cystic being low signal on T1 and high on T2.  No evidence of spinal dysraphism.

Case Discussion

Huge soft tissue swelling is seen in the lower lumbar and pelvic regions. Sacrococcygeal teratoma is the most common in the fetus and neonate. The aim of our cross-sectional studies to assess the relation of the mass to the rectum and urinary bladder and to exclude any associated dysraphic anomaliesTeratoma is a composite tumor has ectoderm, endoderm and mesoderm.
