Right upper lobe pneumonia

Discussion:

Dense consolidation in the right upper lobe of this young child is consistent with pneumonia. Depending on local policy, a repeat radiograph is not required providing there is appropriate response to antibiotic therapy and resolution of symptoms when seen at follow up.

There is graduated lucency just above the horizontal fissure - this is air within the superior portion of the right lower lobe.

If there are worsening of symptoms, consider an ultrasound to look for an accompanying effusion.
