Patient Data
A solid hypoechoic nodule is identified bulging hepatic left lobe contour (segment II). This lesion showed central flow radiating peripherally from a central vessel.
Case Discussion
This patient had an MRI study (not shown here) that confirms an FNH aspect to he lesion.
FNH is also thought to be in response to a pre-existent arteriovenous malformation. The arterial supply is derived from the hepatic artery, whereas the venous drainage is into the hepatic veins. FNH does not contain portal venous supply.
Is described that Doppler study demonstrates an enlarged afferent blood vessel with central arterial hypervascularity and centrifugal filling to the periphery in a spoke-like appearance.
