Multiple myeloma

Presentation

Backache. No trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Significant generalized osteopenia. Height reduction / anterior wedging of multiple vertebral bodies.

Protrusio acetabuli - more obvious on right side.

A lytic lesion is noted in proximal shaft of left femur. It causes endosteal scalloping of medial cortex. Few other tiny lytic suspicious foci are noted causing endosteal scalloping of lateral femoral shaft cortex.

Case Discussion

Findings raised the possibility of multiple myeloma. Electrophoresis study proved the diagnosis.
