Left MCA acute infarct

Presentation

Sudden loss of consciousness.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

CT Brain

The left temporal lobe and left insula show loss of the cortico-medullary differentiation (insular ribbon sign) with effaced overlying sulci and mild compression of the left lateral ventricle.

Hyperdense left MCA is as well seen in the Sylvian fissure (dense MCA sign).

Left MCA thrombosis with subsequent left temporal and left insular acute infarct.
