Jugular foramen schwannoma

Typical extra-axial mass consistent with Schwannoma in the cerebello-medullary cistern rather than cerebello-pontine with a tongue of tissue in the jugular foramen (arrow). No involvement of the internal auditory meatus or canal although there is minor impingment on the 8th nerve causing hearing loss.
Case Discussion
Schwannoma can develop from any cranial or spinal nerve - most common on the 8th nerve but can be seen in the pars nervosa of the jugular foramen arising from the 9th, 10th or 11th nerves.
