Presentation
Diplopia and ophthalmoplegia in patient with history of chronic sinusitis
Patient Data
Soft tissue attenuation fills the right maxillary, frontal and ethmoidal sinuses with high attenuation material seen at the right maxillary sinus. There is associated invasion of the medial and inferior walls of the right orbit, infiltration of the medial and inferior recti muscles as well as proptosis of the right eye globe.
Case Discussion
Biopsy revealed mucormycosis and the patient gave a history of long-lasting diabetes mellitus. Invasive fungal sinusitis rarely occurs in healthy individuals and mostly in immunocompromised individuals.
